Pomona Unified School District
I came to Pomona Unified after being an education specialist at the middle school level for two years in a district in Orange County. I initially started in PUSD in 2001 as a substitute teacher, and volleyball and basketball coach for Pomona High School. In 2002 I was hired on as a History/Social Science teacher for P-High. In 2004 I transferred over to Village Academy where I taught History/Social Science and Technology for three years. It was while I was teaching at Pomona High that I began experimenting with project based learning and technology integration. After teaching at Village for three years, and completing the coursework for a Masters in Educational Technology, I saw the opportunity to spread my knowledge to more teachers through the Teacher Specialist position with Educational Technology.
My teaching philosophy is embodied in my favorite quote from English Philosopher Herbert Spencer: "The great aim of education is not knowledge but action".
